Antonina Klimenko and other guests at the opening of the exhibition “In Regeneration” by Gleb Skubachevsky in Askeri Gallery | Events

Yesterday in Askeri Gallery the opening day of the exhibition "In Regeneration" Gleb Skubachevsky was held. The young Russian artist continues to amaze with his research on the volume and shape, giving an additional vector to the development of his technique.
The new exposition on execution is consonant with the works from the series "Anima Aliena" presented last year, but it raises a completely different topic. It is based on the attitude of Skubachevsky to the artistic past and present of our country, and the name – “In Revival” – fully reflects its essence.
The black and white color and geometric compositions in the presented works reflect the heritage of the Russian avant-garde, inspired Skubachevsky to reflect on the local creative context and attitude to traditions.
Many are already familiar with the style and special 3D technique of Skubachevsky so they were able to note the interest of the artist in geometry, the classic monochrome colors and the game with the texture.
Particular attention this evening was attracted by a large-scale installation “In Revival” which became a kind of symbol of the artist’s total output beyond the limits of canvas and painting. The piece, randomly woven from polymer white tubes, decorated the entrance group of the gallery, showing an example of the artistic use of ordinary industrial materials.
“Regeneration” is translated as “revival”, “regeneration” and it seems to me that this refers to those processes that are taking place in Russian art now, albeit on a micro scale. Revival is a process that returns us to the search for avant-gardists, Cubists, Suprematists of the early 20th century, who influenced the development of world art. In my works, I continue those traditions, interpreting them from the modern context, ” says Gleb Skubachevsky.
The guests of the exhibition delighted in these reflections. To appreciate the new works of the artist and to congratulate Polina Askeri with the opening of the exhibition season came the connoisseurs of modern art and friends of the gallery: Irina Volskaya, Anna Churina, Lydia Alexandrova, Boris Belotskovsky, Antonina Klimenko, Vika Odintsova, Marusya Ilchenko, Irina Bichikova, Victoria Yakubovskaya, Victoria Polyakova, Dmitry Chograshi and many others.
Elena Murina, Polina Askeri and Tatyana Smyslina
