Guests at the opening of the Nature of Magnetism exhibition by Romain Froke at Askeri Gallery | Culture
November 22, 2018
Yesterday in the Askeri Gallery an exhibition of graphic works by Romain Froke “The Nature of Magnetism” was held. At the opening day was attended by the artist himself, who visited Russia for the third time.
The Nature of Magnetism is a reflection on the flow of energy in our world. Long before our era, people noticed that some stones attract metal objects. Later, many scientific discoveries were made, explaining why this is happening: the magnetic field exists due to a certain state of the smallest particles – electrons.
But after all, magnetism is not only physics, its nature underlies the more sensible phenomena: passion and affection. Froke embodies the movement of atoms in calligraphic drawings, the energy that holds everything in the world: from our smartphone and gravity to the mysterious feeling of love.
“Drawing – this is the initial stage of my work. It is with his help that I explore the expressive possibilities of the image, perfect my gesture. I like how the mascara lays on paper. Compared to painting, the movements are completely different, but the saturation and energy of the lines remains, ” comments on Romain Froke .
For the first time the Moscow audience with the works Froke introduced Askeri Gallery in 2016, opening his exhibition "Atoms" . In the spring of 2017, with the support of Askeri Gallery the artist for the first time in Russia fully decorated the Trading House “Spring” for Bosco Di Ciliegi . This is not the first work experience Froke with shopping centers: in 2015, by order of the Paris department store Printemps which celebrated its 150th anniversary, the artist painted ceiling ceilings.
Romain Froke actively participates in many group and personal projects, creates paintings in Miami, Houston, Paris, Marseilles among his major exhibition projects – an exhibition in the Pompidou Center in Paris . In 2018 Romain Froke entered the Top 100 artists of the European annual ranking Le’Guide de’Art Contemporain Urbain 2018.
